Hey guys, it's been a while! There has been so much going on in real life and haven't been around. Glad to see the place hasn't burned down One thing that has kept me busy the past few months is, my parents sold the house and moved. My dad put me in charge of finding him something monthly dividend stocks/ETFs with some of the house founds to help them collect some passive income for living expenses. I researched a ton and eventually decided on a couple that are relatively safe (still high risk) that give 11-12% annual yield (JEPI and PFLT). I also allocated a small portion for much higher risk ETFs such as SVOL (17%) and the granddaddy of them all TSLY (70%!!!). Have any of you heard of TSLY? Basically it is a synthetic covered call option ETF that matches TSLA. Since it's synthetic they don't actually own the underlying stock. There is a lot to it, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience in dividend stocks/ETFs, the covered call strategy, etc...? I find it hard to believe it can be sustainable over the long hall, but we've already received a whopped dividend for July Yield Max, the ETF platform that created and manages TSLY has also have OARK (ARK invest), APLY (Apple) , NVDY (Nvdia), and just recently launched AMZY (Amazon), FBY (Facebook), and GOOY (Google), with Berkshire Hathaway on the way. I also put a little skin in the game last month and re-invested that juicy dividend. When it's too good to be true it usually is, so we'll see. finance.yahoo.com/quote/TSLY?p=TSLYwww.yieldmaxetfs.com/

Whenever I think of monthly payouts from dividends, I always think of REITS.
I used to work for a company that was involved in one as they owned the property that our management company managed for them. I never invested in the REIT (APLE), luckily, as the underlying security had dropped since inception. So basically I put it like this with investors that liked the monthly "income" they were earning. You're paying taxes on everything dividend wise, no matter the share price, and if the security is worth less now than when you bought it, you're likely much better off writing yourself out a check than to put it into a REIT such as this, where you're losing valuation over time. I also questioned the company's strategies on acquisitions, and eventually our property was a part of a large "sale", just as expected. When they go out and buy new properties, they overpay significantly and rack up the debt in the process.
Still, eventually I hope to have a hefty portfolio later down the road that includes ETFs, ETNs, and maybe some mutual funds, that offer passive income. Vanguard has low fees, and I like the names such as VOO and VTI, among others within their portfolio, but will probably break it up with different companies when I reach that point in life an no longer care to actively invest.

Almost forgot.... I was getting worried there for a while with the disappearing act! Thought something might have happened. So here's me, doing a quick dance of joy in finding out that you're still around with us. When I say quick, I mean quick, as we've had about 60+ days of 100F+. Most days its close to 110 degrees here, so not a whole lot of energy to go around... LOL
Oh, and about a month and a half ago I made the big decision to shave off all my hair. It was ridiculous. There's so much trepidation, especially with the scalp issue I had as you're unsure how it'll turn out, but literally when finished, you're like why the hell didn't I do this years ago. It also cleared up my scalp. I now like to say "Bald people will rule the world".

This is great info. Thanks!! Yeah I have looked into REITs like Realty Income Corp. The problem is my dad has been looking for a bigger income stream. More than what they pay out. I've tried to convince him that with fees and taxes etc, he may end up taking a net loss. He's hard headed though and only lives in the present, lol.

Yeah the heat here sucks too. Combine with the humidity and it is really brutal. 110?!?! Good god. Congrats on shaving the head and welcome to the club Just watch out for bad suburns!
