i wonder wether our good dr lanza is chomping at the bits to get at it?there are companies working at vaccines but i have not heard about treatments.patients with the decease coming to the us are recovering so far.what do they use to make them well? what a boost it would be if stemcells could be used which seems plausible to me. another interesting point would be how fast the fda can move with anything connected to ebola.

I had a horrific scenario flash through my mind the other day and I have not shared it with anyone except my family.
If a radical terrorist, who is willing to do harm to others by his own suicide/death, was to infect himself with ebola and make his way into the US, he could start a huge panic by exposing himself to large groups of people in closed spaces. Trains, planes, convention halls, etc. could be used to randomly present as much virus laden fluids to as many people as possible. Just the ensuing mass hysteria would bring a morale victory to the insane depraved minds of these murderers. Management, feel free to delete this post if you think it is giving anyone ideas.

Tom Clancy's "Executive Orders", en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_OrdersLoved it, and still relevant, I see.

The president should stop ALL flights originating in the affected countries. Even other African countries are not allowing travel from them. I don't get the mindset. Plane cleaners at Laguardia airport are refusing to clean planes from those countries, and I don't blame them.

very good piece about ebola on pbs yesterday.my take in short:the virus multiplies faster than the response from the immune system.to boost the immune system would give the body a better chance to handle this and greatly enhance the chance for the patient to get well.i think we have cells that could do this. looks like the fda can look the other way.....

Mapp Biopharma was used at Emory as a treatment, not vaccine. Seeing as Ebola is a virus, I would think that protein therapies would be the way to go instead of cell therapies which are used more for degenerative diseases.

People dying of Ebola were healthy before they got the disease. Lanza's eMSC has to "shock and awe" (as Ablidy said) their immune system beyond the original healthy states to be effective against the virus. But.........., may be with the combination of his eMSC, dendritic cells, T cells, natural killer cells...........and what other immuno cells he has in his lab............, they might recover and never ever get sick again and might even live forever???. Oh well, you did bring up a valid point.
