Huge catalyst coming any day now and the pps is trading well below the recent oversubscribed offering price!
Brief business summary: QuickLogic Corporation, a semiconductor company, develops semiconductor platforms and intellectual property solutions for smartphones, wearable and hearable devices, tablets, and the Internet-of-Things. It also provides flexible sensor processing solutions, ultra-low power display bridges, ultra-low field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), and programming hardware and design software solutions. I jumped into this one on Friday at $3.47, averaged down all the way to $3.05, and now have a pretty big position at $3.27. Market cap: $34M o/s:10.9M Float: 8.3M CoH: (approx) $26M *Current share price: $3.16 ***They just closed a public offering and raised $8.75M last week. ** The offering was oversubscribed and the pricing was $3.50 This is a very solid company working with some huge companies. Revenue is increasing and they are anticipating 61% gross margins this quarter. They have a lot going on, including using their AI technology called SensiML to potentially detect COVID-19. Some of their business has taken a hit due to COVID-19. They are expecting a 20% reduction in previously guided revenue due a break in the supply chain not allowing for shipping of their circuit board that was to be used in a new voice-recognition Smart TV remote control. The TV company went with an older model remote to be in time for the holiday rush, but that customer should come back next year. The main catalyst and reason why I dumped CLSK Friday and moved that money into this is because the CEO on the last call said that they will be announcing a new "initiative" with a "mega-cap" company in the coming weeks. The call was May 11th and on their corporate presentation it says it is supposed to launch in Q2. So really any day now. I'll write more in the next post. The mega-cap company is thought to be Google. Here are some highlights about this initiative on the transcript from the call on May 11th: finance.yahoo.com/news/edited-transcript-quik-earnings-conference-162017513.html-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brian C. Faith, QuickLogic Corporation - President, CEO & Director [3] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Moving to our strategic initiative with the mega-cap platform company. In March, we announced the first deliverable from this initiative with a new open source hardware IoT development kit called QuickFeather. Developed in conjunction with AMP Micro, a European technology company, QuickFeather includes an EOS S3 and is designed to enable the next-generation of low power machine learning capable IoT devices. It supports the 100% open source ZEFR real-time operating system or RTOS and the syndaflo open source FPGA development tool. Machine learning applications are being deployed at an amazing rate, and we believe the new QuickFeather Board will further accelerate that trend. Based on the initial interest from our March press release, we expect to ship hundreds of QuickFeather development systems during Q2. And while QuickFeather is game-changing for QuickLogic in terms of the sheer number of engineers we will engage and the total available market for our solutions, it is just the tip of the iceberg with respect to this initiative with the mega-cap company. We are very excited to share that the full scope of the joint development with this mega-cap company and Antmicro is nearly ready to go live. We believe the massive reach of this mega-cap company will open up a user base 100x larger than our current channel could on its own. As such, this initiative could drive a correspondingly higher revenue opportunity for the EOS S3 and SensiML AI software. We plan to formally announce this effort and provide more detail via a press release and blog post in the coming weeks.Moving to our eFPGA IP licensing business. During Q2, we are happy to announce we signed a license agreement for our eFPGA technology for use in a low volume radiation-hardened application. Due to nondisclosure agreements, I can't elaborate on any detail beyond that. However, I can say that we expect to generate a modest amount of revenue in the current quarter from that license agreement with royalties coming in future quarters. Moreover, I believe this license as well as our soon-to-be-announced initiative with the mega-cap company, are helping lay the groundwork for stronger growth in our eFPGA IP licensing strategy moving forward. --- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Richard Anthony Neaton, Rivershore Investment Research Inc. - President [17] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And when you said that the second product is ready to go live and an announcement in the next few weeks or in the coming weeks, I think, were your words. Is that for additional boards? Or is that a different kind of product? And is that something that will happen this quarter or that happen in the second half? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brian C. Faith, QuickLogic Corporation - President, CEO & Director [18] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes. I'm glad you asked that question because I can provide a little more clarity now that we're in the Q&A session . So QuickFeather is just sort of the starting point of this whole initiative with this mega-cap company. It's one board, where there are some tools that we talked about in the press release. All of that is going to become very clear that this is a very large and strategic initiative between us and this mega-cap company that we will announce in the coming weeks.
Along with additional tools that come out of this, that you'll also, in the future, see potentially a second board coming out that we haven't announced yet. That will be a little bit in the future. That will address a sort of different set of users or use cases than the first one. So again, this whole thing when it's finally announced, is going to be clear that this is a pretty major undertaking of ours in terms of strategic initiatives. It goes much greater than just one development kit.--- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zhihua Yang, Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., Research Division - Associate [47] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sounds good. Last question for me, then I'll jump back in the queue. So when you talk -- when you look at the opportunity with the mega-cap company, I think QuickFeather is a very catchy name. And can you help us frame how that solution will be marketed to the broader developer community? Are they going to highlight QuickFeather and your company's name as well?-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brian C. Faith, QuickLogic Corporation - President, CEO & Director [48] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes. I think without spilling all the beans right now, it's -- they are going to be referring to our name and QuickFeather. They're going to be taking several of those units and helping get those out to their community, both internal to that company and folks in their ecosystem. That's what they're going to do.What we are going to do in parallel because this is not an exclusive development kit, we are going to be getting it out to our channel partners that we currently have. There's also several open source hardware guys, gals, folks, communities that we're going to be seeding these boards with that I think will hopefully, have a very positive experience and then start some level of viral marketing with that. And so those are sort of the 3 avenues that we're looking at to get the word out about this board: the mega-cap company, our traditional distribution channels and then a more viral marketing approach with the people that are really big on open-source hardware.

Great research Ham, opportunity looks inviting. I'm going to look it over this weekend. ecoethcon has been pounding the table about this one for a while. It was trading in the high $5s a few months ago, but like most stocks it took a corona-hit. Then they did a raise the other day. Like SOLY it’s at a vulch-price at the moment, but with more near term catalysts than SOLY.

I took a small position at $3.06 yesterday. I am always concerned about open source tech companies because they need to make their profits on support services, which isn't always an easy sell. I tentatively plan to sell on the confirmation of the partnership with Google, which I hope results in a share price spike, but depending upon how the partnership is structured I might stick around longer.
Thanks for bringing this company to our attention JHam!

I totally agree. If they truly have a deal with Google or any other mega-cap company for Quickfeather, then that concern is more or less eliminated. My strategy is similar to yours. I plan to sell most if not all, on the news, unless they give me reason to hold for the long haul. The CEO said the announcement with the mega-cap company is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the potential with Quickfeather.

OK, so...QUIK said on the call in May, that they would make a blog about this new initiative with the mega-cap company. So today I went to the QUIK website to find the blog (don't ask why I never did this before), and surprise - they announced the deal back on June 17th! www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/quicklogic-announces-open-reconfigurable-computing-initiative-301077475.htmlQuickLogic Announces Open Reconfigurable Computing Initiative
- QuickLogic Open Reconfigurable Computing (QORC) initiative, developed by Antmicro in collaboration with QuickLogic and Google, broadens access to company's FPGA technology and eFPGA IP for all embedded systems developers
- First programmable logic company to embrace open source FPGA development tools
They used this news to then raise $8.7M in cash which will hold them over for at least a year, if not forever. I was waiting for a big headline like "Google partners with Quiklogic for Cutting Edge Initiative" or something like that, that I missed it when it was right below my nose. So where things stand now for me and anyone else holding in terms of near term catalysts, is when *Google* makes the announcement. It is a pretty big deal, so once things get rolling I do expect Google to start talking about QUIK/Quikfeather in PRs or public events, etc...And we know this because back on QUIK's May 11th earnings call, when asked if [Google] would highlight Quickfeather and QUIK in the marketing, the CEO answered with the following: "Yes. I think without spilling all the beans right now, it's -- they are going to be referring to our name and QuickFeather. They're going to be taking several of those units and helping get those out to their community, both internal to that company and folks in their ecosystem. That's what they're going to do."
After you've read the above PR, please checkout this blog from the CEO (not only the excerpts I am posting below). I'm not sure how one could be more bullish about their future: www.quicklogic.com/2020/06/18/the-tipping-point/Prelude…Exactly 117 years ago this week, Henry Ford incorporated the Ford Motor Company. Ford didn’t invent cars, nor did Ford invent the manufacturing line. What Ford did do was to recognize the huge potential of blending an existing product (the car) which served a limited market with a new capability (the assembly line) to make it suitable for the masses. This was the tipping point that forever transformed the automotive industry. The Benefits of Open Source…Fast forward to 2020 – I believe we are at a similar moment in our industry....Conclusion…There is a reason why I started this blog with Ford Motor Company. Ford transformed the automotive industry by taking an existing technology/product, and changing the way it was built so that it could address a significantly larger market. Similarly, we believe that our products (EOS S3, FPGA and eFPGAs), brought to market in a very different way (with open source tools) will ignite a market that has yet to be tapped – one that has a potential user base 10X larger than the one we address today. This month marks my 24th year in the Programmable Logic industry. For my entire career, during which I’ve seen so many Programmable Logic companies come and go, I’ve seen us use our software as the gate to the hardware inside our “walled garden”. Today I am proud to say we have opened the gates and are looking far beyond the walls.I’m proud of what our team and our collaboration partners, Google and Antmicro, have accomplished in getting to the initial release today, and yet this is just the beginning. We’ll work together to push the industry past the tipping point and into a brave new world where open source tools for FPGA-enabled devices are the norm rather than the exception.
I may trade a small chunk of my position in the coming days, but definitely plan on keeping my core for the long haul.

I would not sell a single share currently (except when a big pump occurs). They are at an inflection point, which changes the company's prospects completely. I understand your scepticism, lcd, regarding the open source point. What i believe is that this is their biggest advantage. They got a lot of praise in the last days for Quickfeather being fully open source and that will attract many customers. Machine learning etc is a hot topic in the tech space and they can use QUIKs solution for this purpose. Here are some links to articles about Quickfeather: www.electronics-lab.com/quickfeather-fully-open-source-development-board-eos-s3-mcu-efpga/"QuickLogic, the first programmable logic company to embrace all-open-source development tools has partnered with Antmicro to create a multi-core essential evaluation tool for machine learning and IoT applications, called QuickFeather development board." The board supports both QuickLogic fork of Zephyr RTOS, as well as FreeRTOS as part of the company’s QORC SDK that also includes sample code for getting started." "The board is also suitable for machine learning by leveraging the on-board sensor, programmable logic, and low-power microcontroller with TensorFlow Lite machine learning tools and SensiML Analytics Toolkit to generate custom embedded AI algorithms." www.hackster.io/news/quickfeather-combines-low-power-mcu-with-embedded-fpga-in-a-feather-form-factor-4f2a8a2a3510"QuickLogic took great care to ensure that the QuickFeather is open source all the way down — even using open source PCB design software KiCad to lay out the board" Based on the start of their campaign this week and first shipments expected in late July/August, i believe that Google will start getting vocal about QuickFeather then. I also believe the increase in share price is caused by the start of the campaign and very positive reaction about QuickFeather.

We may have to wait a little bit longer than first expected to see movement influenced from the Google deal, but they are already sending out hundreds of Quickfeather boards. Should be thousands in the next few months. This is a good time to accumulate, imo. That said, I trimmed my position here temporarily to add some shares of CPAH in time for earnings next week. I'll put those shares back and then some (hopefully) right after, which was the plan all along.

I feel like I am stretched too thin on stocks and since I always planned to sell this one on news, I went ahead and exited this afternoon at $3.30. Made a 7% profit after 2 weeks so I can't complain, but if you are still holding this one you can probably expect the share price to skyrocket now that I am out.

Great discussions everyone. Will be posting more about the company and the initiative (QORC). Excitement is building over this and the time for this has come. Note how many traders plowed into $MVIS and $WIMI when those stocks became hot. This has not gotten any volume in about two years. The only unusual volume were on offering announcements and those were not good days. Stay focused expect big things here.
